Long queues and empty shelves have hit supermarkets, as members of the public ignore official advice and bulk buy due to coronavirus fears.

Boots has enforced a limit of two units per customer on various sterilising products, in response to the high volume of customers.

Hand sanitiser, tinned goods and toilet roll have been in particular high demand. There were empty shelves in some supermarkets and long queues forming on Saturday.
