Aldi has been donating food and lending crates to a community larder in Shortlees.The retail giant also organised a quick way for volunteers to pick up shopping outside instead of having to fill up trolleys in the aisles.Assistant manager Stephen Samson said: “We are always happy to help out local communities and folk in need.”He said the store has given away surplus food to the cause.East Ayrshire Provost Jim Todd and council leader Douglas Reid thanked Mr Samson and his colleagues for their assistance last week.They met up with him at the Shortlees, Bellfield and Riccarton food larder resilience hub at Shortlees Community Centre.The larder has been delivering food and other essentials to vulnerable.
