A couple have been spared jail after they grew cannabis to pay for a new kitchen to prepare their home for their children coming home from social services.

Hull Crown Court heard that police attended the home of Susan and Gareth Clarkson, in Bransholme, after reports the dad had gone missing.

Stephen Welch, prosecuting, said police had been called to the address over concerns for Mr Clarkson's welfare last March last year.

On arrival at the address Mrs Clarkson, 37, explained to the officers that her husband had gone missing. They told her that they would have to search the property to make sure Mr Clarkson, 39, was not still in the house, reports Hull Live.
