Husband accused of murdering wife in pizza parlour before burying body in woods

A dad-of-three is accused of murdering his wife, burying her body in the woods and sending texts to himself from her mobile in an attempt to cover up his crime.

Nezam Salangy faced the allegations at the opening of a trial for the death of mum-of-two Zobaidah Salangy. The 44-year-old, of Austin Road, Bromsgrove, is charged with murdering his 28-year-old wife, whom he worked alongside running Prego Pizza takeaway in the Worcestershire town, Birmingham Live reports.

Maths teacher Zobaidah vanished on March 28, 2020, with her remains later discovered in a wooded area near Copyholt Lane, Bromsgrove, on October 16, 2020, Worcester Crown Court heard.Salangy's younger brothers - Mohammed Yasin Salangy, 33, and Mohammed Ramin Salangy, 31, who live together in Caerphilly, Cardiff, are charged with assisting an offender.The jury was told they had assisted Salangy in disposing of the body.In the opening speeches, Simon Denison QC prosecuting described how Zobaidah “disappeared off the face of the earth” the day after the couple had argued at the takeaway on March 27, 2020.“In the days after, Nezam Salangy told a number of people that she had left him,” said Denison.“He showed them text messages on his phone that said she had sent him saying she was with her new boyfriend and intended to leave the UK, which she hated, and return to Afghanistan."Denison said Salangy later contacted his brothers using different phones that he thought wouldn’t be traced to them.The jury was told a grave was dug under the cover of darkness and Zobaidah’s body collected from Prego Pizza, wrapped in a duvet cover and plastic bags, then buried."They disposed of Zobaidah's body on the night of March 28 to 29,” said Mr Denison.“The grave was remote enough
