He does acknowledge however that the world has witnessed a shift in ideals of comfort: “We clap our hands and – lights are on!” By contrast, his book Inside Tangier (Vendôme 2019, £60) is a diorama of interiors and exteriors that have been thoughtfully and slowly pieced together by the colony of international decorators who are drawn to the City of Light.
Gordon Watson is not a decorator but is of their kind, being an illustrious dealer in antiquities and contemporary artefacts (with a gallery on London's Pimlico Road).
