A homeless man who needed a place to sleep used the coronavirus lockdown to his advantage by breaking into a closed-down pub and drinking their liquor.
Lee Sandilands, 38, admitted burglary and stealing about £6 worth of alcohol on March 30 in Grimsby Magistrates' Court. That night, he used two pieces of concrete to smash his way into The Friary in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, causing alarms to go off at the local police station at about 4am.
Once inside he headed behind the bar where he opened the fridge and took out a bottle of wine. He opened the wine and took a sip but didn't seem to like it, opting instead for a bottle of Desperados, a tequila-flavoured beer.
