Grieving Salford family targeted by fake funeral director in 'sickening' scam

A cruel scammer tried to fleece a bereaved family in Salford by pretending to be their funeral director. Police say the grieving family were contacted by a man pretending to be from Salford City Council’s bereavement service.

He said the payment for their upcoming funeral had been declined and that they would need to make a card transaction by phone.

Luckily, the family refused and officers say an investigation has since been launched.
