Lewis Capaldi (born 7 October 1996) is a Scottish singer-songwriter. He was nominated for the Critics' Choice Award at the 2019 Brit Awards. In March 2019, his single "Someone You Loved" topped the UK Singles Chart where it remained for seven weeks, and in October 2019 it reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. On 17 May 2019 he released his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which remained at the top of the UK Albums Chart for six weeks.

Lewis Capaldi says if it hadn’t been for music he would have spent his days ­handling another type of scales – selling fish.

But it would have been sole destroying ­because he can’t stand them. Lewis, 23, whose No1 single Someone You Loved is a record-breaker, said: “My Dad is a fishmonger.

He has a fish shop, one that sells fresh fish – KP’s Fresh Fish. “So I’d probably work there. But I hate fish. I hate the smell of fish and I can’t look at prawns in the face.” Luckily he has been spared because his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, remained at the top of the UK Albums Chart for six weeks.

The single Someone You Loved, first released in November of 2018, holds the record for the longest number of weeks in the top ten
