The Blues splashed out a whopping £97million for his services following a sensational campaign at Inter Milan where he led them to their first Serie A title in 10 years.After two seasons in a row where he netted over 20 league goals, there was a feeling that Lukaku was the missing piece to the puzzle at Chelsea - who were craving a striker to put away the many chances they create.
But that has failed to happen in the Premier League. The 28-year-old has scored just five times in the top-tier and has not been shunted out of the first-team by Kai Havertz by Thomas Tuchel.
It has led to questions over his future just months into his second spell at the club. There was also an ill-timed interview from the striker that he gave to the Italian press insisting that he was keen on a return to Inter Milan one day.
