Gladiator blockbuster sequel finally confirmed 23 years after original with filming start date revealed

Rumours of a follow-up to the historical drama have swirled for five years, after the filmmaker hinted at a potential script which would allow him to revive the world brought to the screen by Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix.
And now, 23 years after the original, the production team have begun casting for the major roles in a new movie. Filming is understood to be scheduled for May.
Locations have been chosen in the Moroccan city of Ouarzazate, which is building a reputation as a favourite site for movie makers due to its dramatic landscapes.
