The Scottish Government has confirmed that a water treatment plant in Harthill is to receive funding to prevent spillages of sewage into a burn that runs into the River Almond.
Following a statement from Minister for Environment and Land Reform, Mairi McAllan, on Scottish Government funding to improve waterways in Scotland, Shotts' MSP Neil Gray asked if Harthill Wastewater Treatment Plant was earmarked for any upgrades.
The Minister replied that the plant, which has seen some 267 sewage leaks into the How Burn and thereafter the River Almond, is listed for upgrade work to prevent future overspill issues.
