A family is giving away a staggering 24,000 presents to needy children this Christmas – inspired by a loving grandma. Norah Wilkinson’s motto was “it’s nice to be nice” and 30 years ago she started spending £10 a year on gifts for kids who otherwise would go without.
Norah, of Sunderland, died five years ago aged 92, but the tradition has continued and now her grandchildren ask their children to do the same.
Granddaughter Tor Imrie-Bell, 35, said: “Norah’s saying is a very simple one.
