Dennis Morgan was chatting to John O'Brien and the pair began discussing a mutual acquaintance while drinking in Liverpool city centre, the Echo reports.
But a row broke out between the two when Morgan, 34, accused the mutual acquaintance of being a rapist. When Mr O'Brien, 69, said he would continue being friends with the man, Morgan attacked him and left him permanently scarred.
