Former Manchester United and Wales winger Mickey Thomas has revealed on social media that he is cancer free almost three years after his diagnosis.

The 67-year-old was in January 2019 diagnosed with stomach cancer and warned by doctors that his prognosis "doesn't look good".

Thankfully, just shy of three years later and following an operation and further treatment, Thomas took to social media to confirm the news. “Great result yesterday – after CT scan my results came back and now I’m cancer free.

So happy,” Thomas wrote on his personal Twitter account. Thomas spent three seasons at United from the late 1970s, making over 100 appearances.
