EMMERDALE actress Chelsea Halfpenny has revealed her struggle after being diagnosed with a "lifelong incurable illness" eight years ago.

The soap star - who plays Amy Wyatt - opened up about the "devastating blow" of her inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) diagnosis when she was in her early 20s.

Chelsea, 30, took to Instagram to detail how she was diagnosed with incurable Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis - which together are known as IBD.

Crohn's Disease is a chronic condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system which leads to recurring diarrhoea, abdominal pain and cramping.
