Ed Woodward has called for clarity from FA and Premier League bosses as English football bids to return. The coronavirus pandemic has seen football in England and across much of the planet suspended for the past six weeks.

Now, the framework for a Premier League return has been cleared by the office of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, including crucial plans for widespread testing of players.

That is due to be laid out by chiefs at the next league meeting on Friday. But it comes as France's government effectively made the decision to cancel the remainder of their season - despite clubs being in talks over how to resume - while Dutch FA chiefs made a similar decision in Holland.
