More than 300 disabled benefit claimants today filed a full High Court claim for compensation from the government. The group took the drastic step after losing out on money when they moved from a system of disability "premiums" to Universal Credit.
They filed a "pre-action" letter last month but say they have now moved a step further after the government "failed to respond substantively".
The High Court claim is yet another legal battle against the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) over a long-running issue that affects 13,000 people.
People on Severe Disability Premiums lost out by an estimated £170 each per month when they were moved onto Universal Credit.
