Man Utd to profit from huge financial boost after narrowly avoiding penalty clause

Manchester United have qualified for the Champions League next season - and will now reap the financial rewards. In addition to receiving TV money to feature in Europe's premier competition, and for finishing in a higher place in the league, the Red Devils' avoided a penalty clause.

The clause is contained within the club's 10-year kit deal - which worth a whopping £75million-a-year - with sportswear giants Adidas, and sees Man United incur a 30 per cent pay cut every time they fail to qualify for the Champions League for two successive seasons.

The huge cut would result in the Red Devils missing out on a huge £22.5million - and at a time when clubs are tightening their purse strings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
