A driver who died while attempting to set a British land speed record has been named as Zef Eisenberg. The fatal crash happened on Thursday evening at Elvington Airfield, between York and Market Weighton.

Mr Eisenberg's family confirmed his death to the BBC. The 47-year-old, who launched fitness food brand Maximuscle, ran the Madmax Race Team, which attempts speed records with motorbikes and cars.

Elvington Airfield, where the incident happened, was the site where ex Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond crashed in 2006. Mr Eisenberg was also involved in a 'near death' 230mph crash at the same airfield in 2016, reports said.
