Cheshire. Crews were called to a secluded farm in Marthall, near Knutsford, just before 1pm on Tuesday afternoon (September 22).Dramatic photos show the fire tearing through the barn as more than 8,000 hay barns were set alight.Another picture taken this morning at the scene on Marthall Lane shows the devastating impact of the blaze on the barn.At the height of the fire, five fire engines - four from Cheshire and one from Greater Manchester - were in attendance.Fourteen different fire engines, including relief crews, have attended so far.
On arrival the crews discovered that the steel-framed barn was well alight. The 40 by 28 metre building contains a large quantity of hale bales stacked from the ground to the roof space, the fire service.
