Another deadly pandemic triggered by so-called 'Disease X' could happen 'every five years' and may be even worse that coronavirus, experts fear.

Scientists recently raised the alarm that another pandemic could be just around the corner, even as the world struggles to cope with the one we're in now.

Disease X is a placeholder name adopted by the World Health Organisation three years ago, representing a hypothetical, as-yet unknown pathogen that could cause a future epidemic.

Mark Woolhouse, professor of infectious disease epidemiology at the University of Edinburgh, said that in 2017, he and his colleagues got WHO to add Disease X to its list of priority diseases.
