Marks and Spencer left shoppers in stitches when it launched “puppy love” sweets for Valentine’s Day. Sticking to the February 14 theme, the cherry and cola-flavoured jellies are shaped like love hearts and sausage dogs respectively. They are currently being stocked in M&S outlets across the UK.But when the supermarket made the announcement on Facebook, dirty-minded customers couldn’t help but giggle. Many pointed out that the dachshund jellies look phallic, which to be fair works well for the most romantic date in the calendar. One commenter joked: “The problem with using sausage dogs is that it looks like a different kind of sausage.”Another laughed: “Really Marksies?
That’s just wrong.“I always buy my grandsons your Walter and Wilma range as they love sausage dogs but I think I’ll be giving these wrong’uns a miss.”A third admitted: “I thought these were chocolate willies at first.”Another said: “Oh my!
I do love a sausage. *Polishes glasses*. OH. I meant dog, of COURSE they’re dogs.”And a fifth added: “Oh I thought it was Ann Summers chocolate for a mo there!”It's not the first time M&S has made shoppers laugh with products that look ruder than intended.
Previously, Marks and Spencer fans were in stitches over rudely-named doughnuts. Meanwhile, a customer couldn't stop laughing after discovering an 'X-rated Percy Pig' in their sweet packet.
