iOS - Android North Lanarkshire officials say the much-anticipated improvement project will revitalise the area and add to the authority’s provision of homes for rent.

Pamela Humphries, the council’s head of planning and regeneration, told Lanarkshire Live: “This is really positive news for the people of Airdrie and marks significant progress in our town-centre regeneration plans. “Orr's is one of the most prominent locations in the town centre, and its demolition will make way for a mixed development of new housing and commercial units, breathing new life into South Bridge Street. “The council has committed to buying 20 new homes from the developer as part of our new housing supply programme, and we’re delighted that work has begun on.
