The 19-year-old, of Norwich Road, Bentilee, was sentenced to nine months' detention in a young offenders' institution, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to controlling or coercive behaviour and damaging property.Prosecutor Ben Williams told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court: "She has described how he would not let her go out to speak to anyone."She also described suffering physical violence at the defendant's hands.
In April 2019 he assaulted her, causing a black eye."On May 12, 2019 they met at a park in Bentilee. He took her phone off her.
A friend persuaded him to return it. He threw the phone, valued at £130, to the ground smashing it."He threatened to assault her and kill her.
