Death Row inmate who is awaiting his execution has got married to an anti-death penalty campaigner.Richard Glossip, 59, tied the knot with Lea Rodger, 32, inside the Oklahoma State Penitentiary this week.He previously narrowly avoided execution because of problems with Oklahoma's drug protocol.

After two years of being in communication, Ms Rodger and the condemned man appear to have fallen in love, according to Fox23.He was found guilty of arranging the 1997 murder of Barry Van Treese, the owner of a motel in Oklahoma City managed by Glossip. He was convicted largely on the testimony of motel maintenance man Justin Sneed, who confessed to carrying out the killing after Glossip hired him to do it.Many have said there is no physical evidence to back up his story, and Glossip has maintained his innocence ever since he was charged. He has been offered a life sentence in return for a confession two times before and has refused both times. In 2015, his execution was dramatically postponed just an hour before he was due to die at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary after a spate of lethal injection mishaps.Glossip's marriage to Ms Rodger is actually his second behind bars.

In 2019 he married then 22-year-old bride Leigha Jurasik, despite the pair never having touched. They met after Ms Jurasik, who was training to be an undertaker, read about Glossip's case and sent a letter to his prison cell. She told Sky News at the time: "When you love someone, you love someone, trivial stuff like that doesn't bother you.

He's innocent he should not be there, but it's never been a deterrence in our relationship."For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here..
