Dame Barbara Windsor opened up about 'cruel Alzheimer's' in final rare appearance

Dame Barbara Windsor made a rare appearance this year speaking about the "cruel illness" that would later tragically take her life.

The 83-year-old, who died on Thursday after a long battle with Alzheimer's and dementia, spoke about her struggle in January this year.

The legendary actress appeared in a video message played at the first Good Morning Britain 1 Million Minutes Award. It was aired on the morning of Friday, January 24 on the ITV show.In the short clip, Dame Barbara awarded Danny Brown the inaugural Dame Barbara Windsor Award, for helping people with Alzheimer's or dementia.She said: “Volunteers like you are so important in the fight against loneliness, especially for those like us, who know all too well the struggles of a cruel.
