Attempts to thrash out a compromise and salvage the region’s ‘spatial framework’ masterplan are set to continue this week - but Andy Burnham has warned there is now ‘limited room for manoeuvre’.The controversial and long-delayed development blueprint needs to be voted through by all 10 town halls before going out to public consultation in early December.Proposals for building on green belt sites have met with a backlash in all parts of Greater Manchester since the first draft was published in 2016.But nowhere has it been more contentious than Stockport, whose council voted to defer a decision on approving the plan on Tuesday night.The controlling Labour group appeared not to have secured enough votes from opposition parties to get the plan.
