BBC 5 Live about his battle with coronavirus, which left him on a ventilator at the Alexandra Hospital shortly after the first lockdown was announced last year, Birmingham Live reports.The 54-year-old said the experience left him on ‘death’s door’ and still causes unusual symptoms a year later.When asked by host Nicky Campbell whether he was able to enjoy a beer in the garden after his stay in the hospital, Neil said: “I actually don’t like beer anymore bizarrely.“My taste buds have changed so I don’t like all the beers I used to like before I had Covid.”Several others have reported suffering from post-Covid parosmia, a condition where tastes and smells are distorted.In one case, a sufferer said they could smell fish in place of any other.
