A dangerous driver who caused a motorway smash which left four people injured lied to police in a bid to escape blame. Mohammed Tabassum claimed his car had been stolen and he was not behind the wheel.
But a lengthy investigation by GMP proved that he was and he has now been jailed. One of the victims in the crash suffered serious damage to her hand which will affect her for the rest of her life.
The smash happened on the M60 near Worsley and Tabassum fled the scene. Now the 29-year-old, of Floyer Road, Birmingham, has been sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to seven years and six months in jail after he pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, perverting the course of justice, failing to stop at the scene of a road
