And, like their make-believe owners, Corrie's dogs have been embroiled in plenty of drama. There was that hilarious time Schmeichel caused the ceiling to cave in after climbing into Cilla Brown and Les Battersby’s bath, and the extremely sad scene that had us welling up when Ken Barlow said an emotional goodbye to dog Eccles.

So we thought we’d take a look at the four-legged friends, past and present, who’ve made their mark on Corrie fans. Great Dane Schmeichel - what a dog he was!
