Cinemas — and all non-essential businesses — across England are going to be ordered to close for a second time this year, with the government on Sunday announcing that the country will be going into a month-long nationwide lockdown from Thursday until the start of December.
The news comes as the U.K. struggles with an alarming second wave of novel coronavirus infections. TheScientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) reportedly told Prime Minister Boris Johnson that COVID-19 was spreading significantly faster than their worst-case scenarios and could potentially kill 85,000 people this winter.
