And as you'd expect, the contest quickly descended into chaos.Two of the pets clashed before it had even got underway, with one landing a brutal bite on the other's bum.
After the poorly behaved pair were separated, they returned to their positions and along with the rest of the line-up were placed under starter's orders.The favourite heading into the race was nine-year-old Paddy, who is a distant relative of the Queen's own corgis.
But after jumping the gun the first time around, 18-month pup Georgie proved you can't teach an old dog new tricks by claiming victory.She stormed ahead before stopping at the finish line to have a play with two of the other competitors, but did eventually cross the bunting on the track to pip her rivals.Georgie was rewarded with a pack of treats for her pawfect performance while her owners Grant and Alison Rumbles took home a cup and a trophy."After having two years of the pandemic it’s just so joyful to have something that’s so much fun," Alison said post-race. "We were really shocked that Georgie won. "We know she is fast because she runs by our border collie and she can really run, but she was just so fast.
