Mercedes a super valet smashed it up after taking it for a 60-mile joyride. Omid Abas, 41, caused thousands of pounds worth of damage after losing control of the rare 1992 550E trying to avoid a mouse that scampered across the road.

When owner Kevin Murphy, 77, returned to pick up the motor - one of only 29 imported to the UK - he found it virtually written off with one wheel nearly horizontal.

A police probe found Iranian-born Abas, who has not passed a UK driving test, had taken the car for a 90-minute round-trip from his workplace in Runcorn, Cheshire, to his home in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

He crashed it on the return trip. In a statement property landlord Kevin said the 30-year-old blue car, which only had 26,000 miles on the clock and was usually chauffeur driven, was a "cherished and prized possession".Every serviced piece of work was always done on it by Mercedes and I devoted a lot of my effort to keeping the car in pristine condition,’’ he said."When I learned of the damage I was incredibly upset."While I do not feel vulnerable or intimidated as a result of this, I am now incredibly cautious about who I trust my vehicles with.
