A doting brother got his year off to a bad start after being arrested by police and spending a night behind bars for going to give his sister bad news.
Thomas Footit, 43, went to tell his sister that her son had been arrested, just weeks after her mother died from cancer. But police officers attended and found out he was in breach of bail conditions banning him from the street.
He was held in custody on Sunday night and appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon. He pleaded guilty to breaking bail conditions by being in Dunn Street, Greenock, on January 2 this year.
