'Absolutely mad!' Matty Lee admits he almost missed out on getting MBE due to I'm A Celeb

I didn’t see it until after the show. I was up late when I got voted it out, in this hotel.“I was overwhelmed at having my phone and freedom back.So I decided to scroll through my emails and one came to my attention.“I saw that I was getting an MBE.
But the deadline was already passed because I was in the castle. It was 4am, I was going to message my manager but he was asleep.“Luckily we sorted it out in the morning and they replied instantly when we sent it off.They were very understanding and knew I was on I’m A Celeb.They were all rooting for me!”Matty continued, talking about his experience on the popular ITV show in 2021.Talking about what it was like being around TV celebrities as opposed to athletes, the diver said that he experienced a culture shock.He said he sometimes had a “short fuse” while on the show, but tried to remain calm with everyone.Matty also said that the heated moments escalated when people were hungry and tired.
He explained: “As athletes we don’t call ourselves celebrities at all. It’s not a glamorous life.“I feel like a lot of celebrities are in it for that.
