A mum has been ordered to fly 2,000 miles and abandon her baby son in Malta. Leigha Collins, 18, was told to fly one-year-old Hayes to the Mediterranean island where he was born after the lad’s father sued for his return.

Fearing her son will be taken from her, the “petrified” mum last night left her home in Kinghorn, Fife, to travel to London Heathrow for a flight which will see her separated indefinitely from her other son, Alfie, and living alone in Malta while the court battle continues.

In a last ditch plea for intervention from the Scottish authorities, the mum told the Daily Record : “Please help me. Please do not allow my travel to Malta during this pandemic for my son’s safety.” Leigha and her two sons came home to Scotland last
