Liam Payne "jumped from the balcony" of his hotel room leading to his untimely death, police in Buenos Aires have said in a statement to the Associated Press, reported by the Mirror US that appears to rule out an accidental fall or foul play.The 31 year old singer died on Wednesday night after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the upscale neighbourhood of Palermo.The singer, famous for his part in the One Direction music sensation formed on the 2010 series of X Factor was on a getaway in Argentina with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, attending a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan.
A preliminary autopsy report revealed that the star died from "multiple traumas" causing both "internal and external bleeding" after a 40-foot fall.
The police statement to The Associated Press said Liam, who was just 31, “had jumped from the balcony of his room”. Officers rushed to the hotel in response to an emergency call just after 5pm local time warning of an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol," the statement added.
Prior to the incident, the head of reception at the 61-room Hotel Casa Sur made two urgent calls to the emergency services, stating: "We have a guest who's off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room.
