Brave Russian WWII airmen are remembered in touching Perthshire ceremony

Perthshire’s links with Russia. On Saturday, May 8, the Errol Memorial Stone was the scene of Russian-Scottish WWII remembrance gestures to mark the handsome boulder’s first VE Day in situ at Errol Parish Churchyard.

And on the same day, a similar ceremony was held at Fearnan, where four Russian pilots died in a crash in 1943. The provost of Perth and Kinross Dennis Melloy and the Russian consul general Andrei Yakovlev laid wreaths at the Errol site.
