A record-high number of LGBTQI characters were seen in regular and recurring roles on US TV in 2021-2022, a new report from GLAAD has revealed.GLAAD’s Where We Are on TV report analysed primetime scripted series regulars and recurring characters on broadcast networks, cable networks and streaming services for the 2021-2022 TV season.“The growing state of LGBTQ representation on television is a signal that Hollywood is truly starting to recognize the power of telling LGBTQ stories that audiences around the world connect with,” said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis in a statement. GLAAD said that while there were series with multiple LGBTQI characters like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, All American, Legends of Tomorrow, Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, Batwoman and Sex Education, there was no primetime broadcast series with majority LGBTQI characters.Stills from Pose (left) & Sex Education (right).GLAAD recorded 637 LGBTQ characters on these platforms. Streaming services led the list with 358 LGBTQ characters, which included 245 LGBTQ series regulars and 113 LGBTQ recurring characters. There were 141 LGBTQI characters on scripted broadcast primetime programming, including 92 regular and 49 recurring characters.

After recent reports of behind-the-scenes issues during filming “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” it does appear the production is officially going on hiatus until 2022. And with the announcement, we’re learning more details about the injuries sustained by star Letitia Wright earlier this year.

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever officially began its production hiatus for the remainder of 2021 today as it allows star Letitia Wright additional time to recuperate from an on-set injury earlier this year. This morning, cast and crew of the sequel received a note direct from Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Nate Moore acknowledging the pause.The note confirms that production will resume with Wright on board in January, but indicates that her injuries, which included a fractured shoulder and a concussion, were more serious than initially realized. Deadline first reported the accident, which happened during a stunt on set in Boston, back in August.

Black Panther 2 will be suspended later this month to allow for the film’s lead, Letitia Wright, to recover from the injury she sustained while filming.In August, the actress – who plays Wakandan princess Shuri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – was hospitalised after sustaining an injury while filming a stunt for the Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.It was reported at the time that the incident wasn’t expected to have an impact on Wakanda Forever‘s filming schedule.Per Digital Spy overnight (November 5), director Ryan Coogler had, until now, continued with shooting the film without Wright, however can’t shoot footage without their lead character so will cease production until Wright is able to return to set.A

Black Panther 2 will reportedly shut down production later this month as they cannot keep filming while Letitia Wright is recovering from an injury she sustained in August. The star, who is taking over as the lead of the Marvel franchise after Chadwick Boseman's death in August of 2020, became a fan favourite in the first movie playing the young Wakandan princess Shuri.

Marvel movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has temporarily stopped production after lead actress Letitia Wright gets injured while on-set. When filming on location in Boston, Wright was injured while shooting a sequence involving a stunt rig, The Hollywood Reporter writes.Marvel Studios announced in August at the time that Wright's injury would not affect the filming schedule.Production has been shooting around her character Shuri, the sister of Black Panther T'Challa.Wrights character Shuri has become a fan favourite breakout in the 2018 movie which grossed $1.3 billion and won three Oscars.
