Mike Bloomberg, the entrepreneur and former mayor of New York City, spent more than $900 million during his presidential campaign for the Democratic nomination from November 2019 to March 2020, before dropping out without winning a single state.
Around half of Bloomberg's spending went on television advertising, $100 million was assigned to digital ads, and millions more went on pollsters, campaign advisers and junk mail.
He spent $1 million on meals alone for his 2,000-strong staff. In February, the peak of his activity, he was spending about $17 million a day.
