He has his first novel, Howul, coming out next year. Winning the Booker was really surreal. I was suddenly thrust on to the main stage, having been on the periphery for a very long time.
It’s a personal victory for me [as the first black woman to win the prize], and for many people who feel like they’re not really heard.Lunch might be fish with salad.
