Berlin's newest airport has finally opened to the public, nine years after its original launch was planned. Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt (BER) was first due to open in 2011 but a variety of issues said to include bureaucratic delays, concerns over construction flaws and more caused this to be pushed back.
The new airport replaces Berlin's Tegel Airport which will close its doors on Sunday 8th November. The idea is that all flight operations in the German capital region will be concentrated at one airport.
