The original show centered on a group of lifeguards who patrolled the beaches of LA County. The series was axed after just one season at NBC.
However, it was then picked up for a syndicated version with All American Television with German distributor Beta Taurus financing the project.
That iteration ran for 10 seasons. The rights to Baywatch, Deadline says, has been tricky, as Fremantle held the rights to the show after All American Television was assumed by Pearson, which then became Fremantle.
