RHOA's Kim Zolciak files for divorce from Kroy Biermann - amid $1.1m unpaid tax bill

Kim Zolciak has filed for divorce from Kroy Biermann after 11 years of marriage, following reports that the couple owe $1.1 million in unpaid taxes.The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 44, married former NFL play Kroy, 37, in November 2011, after meeting at a charity event the year before.The couple share four children together, and Kroy also adopted Kim's two children from previous relationships, Brielle and Ariana.The news of the split comes as it's revealed that the couple owe $1.1 million to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties from 2013, 2017, and 2018.They are also said to owe the state of Georgia $15,000 for unpaid taxes from 2018.

TMZ reports that Kim has said that the marriage is "irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation" and has cited their date of separation as April 30.The reality TV star is requesting primary physical custody and joint legal custody of the couple's children Kroy Jagger (KJ), 11, Kash, 10, and twins Kaia and Kane, 9.

She is also requesting spousal support and to legally restore her maiden name. OK! have contacted reps for Kim Zolciak. Ahead of the news of their divorce, it was reported that Kim and Kroy's Georgia mansion had entered foreclosure in February, after they defaulted on a $1.65 million loan they took out on the property in October 2012.

At the time a source close to Kim told PEOPLE that she believed the foreclosure was due to a "misunderstanding", telling the outlet: "She is telling everyone this is a misunderstanding and is being sorted out.
