Barcelona have announced the appointment of former midfielder and club legend Xavi Hernandez as head coach.The struggling Catalan club identified their former captain as the man to succeed Ronald Koeman, following the Dutchman’s sacking last week after weeks of speculation.Xavi, 41, was in charge of Qatari club Al-Sadd, who he initially joined as a player from Barcelona in 2015 before taking over as manager in 2019.Barcelona were understood to have worked around the clock in order to bring the World Cup winner home, back to where he first started as an 11-year-old at the club’s La Masia complex.The club’s representatives reportedly worked around the clock over the past few days to get a deal over the line.That included executives Mateu.
