Dave and Central Cee have broken the Spotify UK record for the most-streamed song in a single day this year with their track, ‘Sprinter’.Released on Friday (June 2), the jubilant track saw the two London rappers collaborating for the first time.This week, it was confirmed that ‘Sprinter’ became Spotify UK’s most streamed song in a single day in 2023 so far. Currently, the track has amassed more than 20 million streams in just under five days.

Central Cee and Dave have released their new collaboration ‘Sprinter’ – along with an opulent accompanying music video – check it out below.The single is the first collaborative release from the duo, however in 2016 the two were both featured on a remix of AJ Tracey‘s 2015 grime track ‘Spirit Bomb’.Now ‘Sprinter’ sees the 24-year-olds rap about their new lavish lifestyles with great bravado, proven when Central Cee delivers: “We ain’t got generational wealth / It’s only a year that I’ve had these millions.”Through his bars, the Shepherd’s Bush native also gives a shout-out to the Fast & Furious movies and Skepta‘s 2009 track ‘Too Many Men’. The track was produced by Jo Caleb and Jonny Leslie with assistance from Dave, NME 100 alum Jim Legxacy (whose vocals are sampled), TR and Kyle Evans.The single serves as Dave’s first musical release of the year, following on from last year’s ‘Starlight’ and ‘My 24th Birthday’ – the former being his first solo UK Number One and second overall after the 2018 Fredo-assisted ‘Funky Friday’.

Dave took home Best Hip Hop/Rap/Grime Act award at this year’s BRIT Awards, where he also delivered a pyrotechnic-fuelled rendition of his ‘We’re All Alone in This Together’ cut ‘In the Fire’.During his acceptance speech, the rapper thanked God “first and foremost” and said, “I appreciate all the love from the fans.” He went on to thank collaborator Kyle Evans, his mother, friends and family.“I want to say thank you to all of the artists that are in the same field as me. The rappers that have suffered for years and years and years and years and years, and broken down so many barriers in this industry that I’m in right now,” the rapper continued.“It’s for you guys that I feel like, it’s only right that I carry on doing the same thing, and for the people that are here today,” he added, specifically shouting out Best New Artist winner Little Simz and Ghetts, who was also nominated in the Hip Hop/Rap/Grime category.“Listen, man.

Chip has shared a preview of a new track called ‘Clash?’ which hears the Tottenham MC take aim at Stormzy.It comes after Dave released new track ‘Clash’ earlier today (July 9), on which Stormzy appears to subliminally diss Chip, who he’s been locked in a feud with since last year.“Burned that bridge, cremated one, ooh, ooh, bailiff one/ Got away with murder, this that Viola Davis one,” Stormzy raps on the Kyle Evans produced track.It’s believed that the line “bailiff one” might be in reference to the moment Stormzy pulled up to Chip’s house in June 2020, which was caught on camera and shared by Chip in a now-deleted video.
