THE Great British Bake Off returned to screens tonight with new host Matt Lucas making an instant impact. The Little Britain star, 46, performed a pitch-perfect parody of Boris Johnson at the start of the show - moments after the PM addressed the nation for real.
He roped in co-host Noel Fielding and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith as he mocked government U-turns. Wearing a blonde wig, Matt told viewers: "Bake in a tent.
But please don't bake in a tent." He stood behind a lecture bearing a caked-up version of one of the government's early coronavirus slogans, reading: "Stay alert, protect cake, save loaves." Fans were delighted with the sketch with one calling it the "perfect opening".
