Lewis Hamilton has confirmed his position as part of a consortium looking to takeover Chelsea - despite being an Arsenal fan since his childhood.
Chelsea are on the market following sanctions issued to owner Roman Abramovich, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Former Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton is leading the consortium, which also includes tennis icon Serena Williams, and Hamilton is reported to have committed £10m to the bid.Abramovich has put the Champions League holders up for sale and Broughton's consortium are one of three remaining suitors in the hunt for the west London side. However, Hamilton's own football allegiances are tied to Chelsea's London rivals Arsenal - but he says he couldn't turn down the opportunity to invest in the Blues.Speaking ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend, the seven-time world champion said: "Ultimately, I'm a sporting fan.
It's the biggest sport in the world and Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world and one of the most successful."When I heard about this opportunity I was like, 'Wow', this is one of the greatest opportunities to be a part of something.
I've been a football fan since I was a kid, I've played since I was a kid, from four to 17 in teams every year, I played every year through childhood, I've been to numerous games.HAVE YOUR SAY!
