'Abandoned' pensioner faces freezing Christmas waiting two months for heating system repair

An elderly woman faces a freezing cold Christmas as she feels 'abandoned' over a broken heating system. Yvonne Johnson has lived in a flat block designed for those over 60 for the last nine years but now faces an anxious wait to see if it will be heated by the big day.The 75-year-old has been left in the cold for two months after her NIBE external ground source heating system broke down, according to the MEN.It's meant she the retired telephonist has forked out a small fortune on keeping one room warm with a space heater.

The system requires a new part, which has to be ordered from Sweden.It's meant Yvonne has ben left with no hot water of central heating.

She is however able to shower as normal as it runs off a different system.Manchester city council, which runs the block, has since apologised over the issues.

Yvonne has had multiple contractors visit her home in order to rectify the problem, however none have been successful.Her hopes lie on a visit from an engineer on Friday.
