Manchester City star Jack Grealish's mansion was raided by thieves - who pocketed £1million worth of jewellery - on Boxing Day in Cheshire, leaving his family terrified. The star midfielder, 28, who has since broken his silence on the ‘traumatic’ incident, was playing against Everton at the time at Goodison Park.

It is believed a large group of his relatives were at his home, watching the action on TV. Jack's girlfriend Sasha Attwood, 27, was at home with some ten members of Jack’s family (including his parents, sister and brother) watching him play at their £5.6million home, and hit a panic button when the burglars struck, it was reported - after hearing their dogs bark and people creeping around'.

Sharing a picture of himself with his dog, Jack, clearly still very shaken, wrote on Instagram on Sunday: "I can’t begin to explain how devastated I am over the burglary that took place at my home a few days ago. "My family mean the world to me and nothing is more important than ensuring their safety. This has been a traumatic experience for all of us, I am just so grateful that nobody was hurt. "I have had so many amazing experiences and achievements over the last 12 months, but to be honest the best year of my life in football now doesn’t feel like something I can celebrate. "The people that commit these terrible crimes have no idea of the damage they cause to peoples lives.

I hope they are found and brought to justice so no other family has to go through what we have." It is believed that this is the second time the burglary gang attempted to raid the sporting star’s lavish mansion - attempting a break-in one month ago but being scared off, after spotting a police car nearby.
